"Megahex" and the rest of the Megg Mogg and Owl comics answer the question "What if Helen Nicoll and Jan Pienkowski got REALLY LOADED one night and wrote a comic strip for stoners instead of their well-loved children's books". As the comic above says, they're funny but also pretty miserable in places. Megg seems to have a knack for self-survival but never seems to achieve anything other than getting high and screwing her friends. Mogg is a thoroughly detestable little entitled shitbag who is, to date, the only cat in literary fiction I'd consider sticking my boot up the arse of. Owl is the token 'good guy' but is also a bit of a pretentious hanger-on, seemingly shacked up with Megg and Mogg in the same way a shark accepts a remoa. Werewolf Jones reminds me of a lot of the dads I see on the school run, walking their kids to school while chainsmoking and swearing, probably still hungover / high from the night before. Yet, I still find myself chuckling away at this but always feel like I need a shower after reading it!
